Katelyn Panchoo

Katelyn is a passionate advocate for community empowerment and social justice. Her impactful journey began in grade 9 when she rallied to save the local library, gaining widespread attention for her compelling speech. She spoke at City Hall, where she represented community interests before the Executive Policy Committee. She continues to lead social justice initiatives at her high school as the facilitator of the Social Justice club, including speaking at a public hearing against silica sand mining on Indigenous lands and amplifying marginalized voices for environmental and Indigenous rights. During a high school internship at the University of Winnipeg, she immersed herself in Indigenous Studies classes. Alongside coaching gymnastics and volunteering with seniors, she volunteers in a lab conducting neuroscience research at the University of Manitoba. Katelyn aspires to pursue Geriatric Neuropsychology. Her dedication to issues like racial injustice, gender inequality, LGBTQ+ rights, and climate change inspires change for a more equitable society.
