Tara Shivafard

St. Catharines, Ontario

Tara is a fourth-year Political Science student at Brock University. Tara is a proud activist against the Islamic Republic in Iran and has attended countless protests and hosted events in solidarity with Iranian protestors rising against the Iranian government. Through her activism, she has spoken with Heads of Government and high-level Canadian Ministers to discuss the gender apartheid system and actions needed by the Canadian government to support the Women Life Freedom movement. She has worked for the Government of Canada across various departments, beginning at Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and currently works for Infrastructure Canada as a Junior Analyst. Tara serves as the Vice Chair of the Defence and Intelligence Working Group at Women of Colour Advancing Peace, Security, and Conflict Transformation (WCAPS). At WCAPS, Tara focuses on delivering programming focused on uplifting the voices of Iranian women. Tara has also served as the Secretary-General and Head Delegate of Brock Model United Nations, where she led and trained a delegation of 45+ delegates to compete internationally at National Model United Nations New York conference, where they placed in top 10%.
