Shannon is a recent graduate from Simon Fraser University. She majored in Criminology, minored in Political Science and got a certificate in Forensic Studies. Her undergraduate focused on the psychological effects of unmanned aerial vehicles and post-traumatic stress disorder among veteran drone operators. Currently, she is working in an inner-city school in Vancouver with students who require greater support in the areas of social-emotional learning, trauma, mental health issues and behavioural challenges.
Additionally, she is pursuing her freelance design career and an education in art therapy. Shannon hopes to intersect her love of art with her passion to help veterans, children, LGBTQ+ people and women gain new practical skills and heal from past trauma.

Shannon est une récente diplômée de l’Université Simon Fraser. Elle a obtenue une majeure en criminologie, une mineure en sciences politiques et un certificat en examen judiciaire. Ses études de premier cycle étaient axées sur les effets psychologiques des véhicules aériens sans pilote et le trouble de stress post-traumatique chez les anciens opérateurs de drones. Elle travaille actuellement dans une école au centre-ville de Vancouver avec des élèves qui ont besoin d’un soutien important en ce qui concerne l’apprentissage socio-émotionnel, les traumatismes, la santé mentale et les défis sur le plan comportemental.
De plus, elle poursuit sa carrière de pigiste en design et mène des études en art-thérapie. Shannon espère conjuguer son amour des arts et sa passion pour aider des anciens combattants, des enfants, des membres de la communauté LGBTQ+ et des femmes à acquérir de nouvelles compétences pratiques et à surmonter des traumatismes passés.

Jamileh Naso is a student at the University of Winnipeg pursuing a B.A.in Political Science and Human Rights. Based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba she has been working as a Spokesperson and Activist since 2014 to raise awareness about the ongoing genocide of the Yazidi people, through Operation Ezra, a project dedicated to privately sponsoring and resettling Yazidi refugees to Winnipeg. The continuous lobbying efforts of Operation Ezra were crucial to the Canadian government initiating a program to bring 1200 of the most vulnerable Yazidi women and children in Iraq to Canada.
Jamileh is passionate about Refugee and Immigration Policy, Gender Equality and International Affairs. She is constantly looking for the links between International and Human Rights Laws and ways we can make certain of their execution at the grassroots level. She has taken an active role in organizations such as N.E.E.D.S., Welcome Place, The Pembina Trails School Division, and Family Dynamics to do just that. Because of her active role in the community she was asked to be part of a panel on Canadas’ Social Protection Systems at the 63rd Commission on the Status of Women, at the United Nations in New York.

Jamileh Naso poursuit des études de baccalauréat ès arts spécialisé en sciences politiques et en droits de la personne à l’Université de Winnipeg. Habitant à Winnipeg (Manitoba), elle occupe depuis 2014 un poste de porte-parole et militante pour informer les gens sur le génocide des yézidis dans le cadre du projet Operation Ezra, qui se consacre au parrainage privé et à la réinstallation de réfugiés yézidis dans la capitale du Manitoba. Les pressions constantes de l’équipe du projet ont été déterminantes pour convaincre le gouvernement canadien d’exécuter un programme qui aidera 1 200 yézidis d’Iraq, surtout des femmes et des enfants vulnérables, à venir au Canada.
Jamileh se passionne pour les politiques sur les réfugiés et l’immigration, l’égalité hommes-femmes et les affaires internationales. Elle est toujours à la recherche d’arrimages entre les lois internationales et les lois sur les droits de la personne avec les moyens de les appliquer avec certitude à l’échelle locale. Elle a participé activement à d’autres organisations, comme N.E.E.D.S., Welcome Place, la division scolaire Pembina Trails et Family Dynamics pour ne nommer que ceux-là. Du fait de son rôle actif dans le milieu, elle a été invitée à faire partie du groupe d’experts sur les systèmes de protection sociale du Canada à la 63e session de la Commission de la condition de la femme aux Nations Unies, à New York.
Anne is a Political Science student at Western University. Originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Anne has previously worked for the Honourable Marilou McPhedran as an Administrative Support Assistant and served as the Office’s liaison for the HR-2600 Human Rights UniverCITY: Emerging Issues in Human Rights (University of Winnipeg). Anne is currently involved in Western University’s student politics as an elected representative for the Faculty of Social Science. Anne is hoping to pursue a career in international law with a focus on gender equality and the intersectionality of the role of women in conflict.

Anne fait partie en ce moment de la scène politique étudiante à l’Université Western à titre de représentante élue de la Faculté des sciences sociales. Elle souhaite poursuivre une carrière en droit international spécialisée dans l’égalité des sexes et l’intersectionnalité du rôle des femmes dans les conflits.
